How to Read Our Leveling Guides

Our Leveling Guides are written with step-by-step directions. You begin at Step 1, which is the very beginning of the zone's Quest Chain, and end with the last step, which is the very end of the zone's Quest Chain. The step-by-step directions include the fastest leveling path possible to complete the entire Quest Chain. We include many 'hidden' quests (quests you wouldn't know existed following the general leveling path).

Throughout the guide, we use color coding in order to make it easier for the important parts of steps to stand out. The following is a breakdown of our color coding:

Friendly NPC: A friendly faction NPC that you can talk to
Enemy NPC: An enemy NPC that you can attack
Item: A quest item in your inventory or a looted item
Object: An activated object in the world
Location: A location inside a zone
Directions: North, South, East, or West
Zone: A zone name
Accept a Quest: Accepting a quest
Turn in a Quest: Turning in a quest
Tip: A tip, used to help you accomplish the task faster or easier

We also offer a Map, Quest List, and NPC List for each Leveling Guide.

The maps used are high resolution maps of a satellite view of the zone. Meaning, the map is an exact overhead view of the real zone. This allows us to give exact locations of important places, people, and things. It's suggested to print the map out and use it as a reference while following the steps of the leveling guide.

For most steps, we also offer a small image of the map and a highlighted point. This allows you to view a smaller portion of the map to quickly pinpoint where you need to go. For the map, the following is used:

= Location of a Location, Enemy NPC, or Object
= Location of a Friendly NPC

Quest List

The Quest List is a complete list of all quests for the Leveling Guide. Quests are given a specific number making it easier to to find the quest you are seeking more information on. For each quest, we tell you who gives you the quest, who you turn the quest into, and what the criteria is for completing the quest. For each criteria, we also tell you the exact location. An example of how this looks is as follows:

(13) Reduce, Recycle, Reeducate
Starts with: Faceless Man
Kill: Shyla the Fallen at (666, 784) Castrum Hiberna (I)
Use: Soul Reclamation Device on Shyla the Fallen’s Corpse at Castrum Hiberna (I)
Ends with: Faceless Man

NPC List

The NPC List is a complete list of all friendly NPCs for the Leveling Guide. We give you the name of each NPC, the zone they can be found in, the location of the zone they are found at, and the exact coordinates. For finding your coordinates, you can either look at your in-game map or type /loc. An example of how this looks is as follows:

Sanora RellwynFreemarch, Ark of the Ascended (6159, 4401)

How to Follow the Guide

The best method of following the guide is as follows:

1. Print out the Map, Quest List, and NPC List section (or the entire guide if you choose to, it's probably best to print in grayscale. Use Print Preview to print what you want)
2. Follow the Step-by-Step directions, using the checkboxes when you complete a step
3. Use the checkboxes when you complete a quest
4. Remember which step you completed last for the next time you come back!

When completing steps, there are always two screenshots available if applicable. For example:

Sanora Rellwyn in the Cave at Ark of the Ascended (A)

The screenshot on the left is always the in-game screenshot. It basically will show you what you need to find in-game. You can always click the left screenshot for a full-scale view.

The screenshot on the right is always the map screenshot. It shows you the exact location of the steps you need to complete. So for the step above, you are by (A), which is at Ark of the Ascended. The is showing you the location of the Cave. The is showing you the location of Sanora Rellwyn.

Lastly, you must understand compass directions. In the guide, North, East, West, South, North-East, North-West, South-East, and South-West are used very often. Please look at the pictures below to make sure you understand them.

Tips While Leveling

In Rift, simply following the Quest Chain is not the fastest method of leveling. There are times where you can gain practically an entire level in under 30 minutes through Rift Events. Also, PvP is a viable method of leveling. Throughout the guide, we include steps that tell you when you should do a Warfront (PvP) or take part in Rift Events. However, that's just the bare minimum.

We strongly encourage you to take part in the zone-wide Rift Events. From time to time (about every hour or two), there will be a zone-wide invasion. Meaning, the entire zone is automatically given a quest and everyone's efforts go towards the completion of the quest. For example, one of the zone-wide invasions is called "The Hand of Death". For this quest, the zone must work together to defeat 20 Jakub's Invasions and close 10 Death Rifts. Once the objectives are completed, a raid boss will spawn and must be killed to complete the quest. You must actively take part to receive rewards.

During the event, dozens of Rifts will spawn hundreds of invasions. An invasion is usually a group of 5-10 mobs with one of them being a powerful elite. When the boss of the invasion dies, everyone who contributed to defeating that invasion is rewarded with XP and item rewards. When defeating dozens of invasions and the final raid boss, the amount of XP and item rewards becomes a very high amount. Even at Level 20, I was getting 20-40% of my level per Level 15 zone-wide invasion.

If you are going to take part in the Rift Events, here are a few basic tips:

1. Find out where the central attack point is. This is usually announced before and during the event. "Kelari Refuge is under attack" for example.
2. Stay near central attack points. That is where the invaders are coming. Use your map to find invaders and hover over their icon to see where their destination is.
3. The goal is to take part in as many invasions as possible. The more you're a part of, the more XP and item rewards you will receive.
4. Once the main objectives are completed, some sort of raid boss spawns. Use your map and hover over each invasion until you find the one that's the raid boss. Then travel as fast as you can to that raid boss to get as much credit as possible. Remember, for invasions, the more you contribute the better your rewards are.

Not only is it fun to take part in the invasions, but it's also a great source of XP if done correctly. In the near future, we'll add specifics for each zone-wide invasion. Where to go, what to do, etc. Unfortunately, we didn't get enough information on them during Beta 5 to do much.

As for Warfronts, you should complete Koke Tegus' daily everyday, and any other PvP quests once you get them. Not only do you earn lots of Favor (which is used later to buy powerful items), but you'll also earn a decent amount of XP and some item rewards along the way.
